50 Years of PASCO® | From a Plant Floor Problem to Modern End-of-Line Automation
St. Louis, United States – March 20, 2026 / PASCO® /
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – March 18, 2026 – PASCO®, the flagship automation brand of Pasco Systems Corp, is celebrating 50 years in industrial automation in 2026. Founded in 1976, PASCO builds end-of-line systems that solve complex production problems and keep packaging lines running.
Over the past five decades, PASCO has helped define modern end-of-line automation.
PASCO was founded by two engineers at Monsanto who saw a problem firsthand. Workers were manually handling heavy 55-gallon drums during packaging operations.
“It was dirty, demeaning work,” said Jim Nardulli, Chief Operating Officer of Pasco Systems Corp. “Their people were handling 400- to 500-pound drums and getting hurt. So, the idea was simple. Build a machine that takes the lifting out of it.”
The hydraulic palletizing system that followed removed the lifting from the process and demonstrated how automation could solve a real production problem.
Since then, PASCO has built end-of-line automation for manufacturers across a wide range of industries, including operations handling bags, cases, drums and other packaged goods. The company manufactures nearly all of the components used in its systems while working with a strong network of vendors and partners to support integration, installation and long-term system performance.
PASCO integrated its first industrial robot in 2004, expanding the speed and repeatability possible at the end of packaging lines and helping remove one of the most common production bottlenecks. As packaging operations have evolved, end-of-line automation has become a standard approach to reducing manual handling and improving consistency in how products are prepared for shipment.
Today, the business operates as Pasco Systems Corp, which includes two automation brands. PASCO® focuses on end-of-line automation including palletizing, depalletizing, robotic valve bag placing and integrated packaging lines. Versatech™, acquired in 2023, focuses on custom manufacturing process automation including assembly systems, machine tending and workholding, inspection and testing, and material handling.
Together, PASCO® and Versatech™ provide automation solutions from process through end-of-line, with more than 1,200 systems operating across 900+ manufacturing facilities worldwide.
“We started by solving a major problem on a plant floor,” Nardulli said. “Fifty years later, that’s still the job. Manufacturers bring us problems and we build systems that solve them.”
